Everyone Contributes as Patriots Earn Their Second Win (5/1/2007) - Patriots 9 at York High School 8
| Batters one through nine in the Gray-New Gloucester lineup had at least one hit as the Patriots moved on to defeat the Wildcats 9-8 at York, Maine.
In the effort, outfielder Lucas Chase reached base in all four of his plate appearances for the Patriots. In the fifth inning, having already hit a single and a double, Chase lined a three-run homerun to right field; his first of the season.
Senior centerfielder Peter Clement had two hits, drove in a run, stole a base, and scored three runs for the Patriots. Catcher Matt Moberg blasted his second homerun of the season and finished the day with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Patriots plated what proved to be the winning run when sophomore Cody Humphrey singled home Chase in the sixth inning. Owen Chaplin and Brent Sawyer, also sophomores, each had a pair of hits and an RBI.
Starting pitcher Joe Billings collected his first win of the season, lasting 6 1/3 innings and allowing just one base on balls.
And today I added "Moberg" to my SpellCheck dictionary. It was awesome.
